STRUCTO VISTA DOME HORSE TRUCK & TRAILER / STRUCTO EARTH MOVER

I have old photos of my childhood Christmas' showing some Structo toys that I got. I played with these toys for hours back then. I've been trying to find copies of all of these old toys I had back then, and these two mentioned in the comment title have eluded me thus far. Here's photos of the toys:

In the first photo from 1958 I am on the left holding the green and gray Structo Earth Mover (that's my older Brother on the right holding the Structo Auto Haulaway he got that same year). The second photo that is me again on the left with the Horse Van sitting in front of me. I have found very similar such Trucks on ebay, but they don't have the white truck cab roof, and the cab with that shape. This I believe was from Christmas of 1962 or 1963.

I'm not sure what ever happened to the truck and trailer, but the horses were still in my parent's basement until about 4 or 5 years ago when my Dad converted that area of the basement to his model train set up. Oh well. I'll keep looking.

EDIT: I HAVE DISCOVERED SINCE MAKING THIS POST THAT THE HORSE VAN AND TRAILER IS A NO. 6300 NYLINT - NOT A STRUCTO MODEL AS I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT. I HAVE FOUND ONE OF THE EXACT NYLINT VANS ON EBAY LIKE THE ONE SHOWN IN THE ABOVE PHOTO! THIS MAKES ME WONDER IF THE EARTH MOVING I'M HOLDING IN THE 1958 PHOTO MAY NOT BE STRUCTO EITHER.

My Older Brother Passed Away

My older Brother Jim passed away this past Tuesday of heart failure. He was 56. He had been ill for a long while with only 4% kidney function for around 2 years now. The past couple of months he had been so sick, and not able to keep food down that he missed several dialysis treatments. I think it was the last straw for his body to take. He was finally admitted to the hospital in Rochester, NY last weekend. His heart stopped around 5 AM EST on Tuesday, and they never were able to get it restarted.

Please keep his wife Luann in your thoughts and prayers as Jim's death was totally unexpected so soon. She is now left holding the bag trying to straighten out her life on her own from now on. Jim also leaves behind his Daughter Kari who is 25. Needless to say I haven't much been in the mood for any kind of music ripping lately. Jim was cremated yesterday, and his wife will take his ashes with her back to PA where she's from. Thanks all!

Yogi Bear "How To Be A Better-Than-The-Average Child Without Really Trying!!" (Golden LP LP-90 1963)

Features several songs and stories to help a child learn how they should act once they grow up. It also has a special bonus feature of several complete cartoon theme songs. As with many non-Hanna Barbera Records LPs this one features voices other than the regulars we are used to. Voices heard here are by Frnnk Milano, Mike Stewart and Dottie Evans (as Cindy bear).

This 11 minute, 7 Inch 33 rpm record comes off more like a Promo for the movie than an actual Soundtrack record. There is a Colpix full 12 inch soundtrack to the movie on record number CP-472/SCP-472. You can download it HERE.

WE'RE BACK!!!

I'm going to start doing my sharing here again. I'm going to try and be a good boy and share only OOP stuff. So there won't be as many shares as in the past. I'm not going to go back and re-share anything that isn't OOP either. I liked the Forum setup a lot, but it just got too much to keep track of, and I'm not able to sit at my PC as much any more now that my DJD in my left knee has worsened. I hope I can share a lot of music that others don't have, and remember from their years gone by. Thanks!

Marx Service Stations And Ft. Apache

In my never ending effort to replace my childhood toys here are the latest ebay finds:

THIS SET IS THE EXACT SET THAT I RECEIVED FOR CHIRSTMAS IN 1963 AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE FAMILY SLIDE SCAN FROM THAT CHRISTMAS DAY:

I THINK MY SISTER GOT RIPPED OFF THAT YEAR...LOL. ALL SHE GOT WAS THE CLOTHES SHE IS WEARING AND THAT SNOW CONE MAKER. MY BROTHER AND I GOT THE CLOTHES WE'RE WEARING (MY ONCE FAVORITE DANIEL BOONE PJ'S), THE RACE CAR SET TOGETHER, I GOT FT. APACHE AND HE GOT BATTLEGROUND PLAYSETS. I ALSO RECEIVED THE UNCLE WIGGILY GAME YOU CAN SEE UNDER MY BROTHER'S PUZZLE ON THE COUCH. I'VE TRIED TO REPLACE THAT AURORA RACE CAR SET IN THE FAMILY SLIDE, BUT NONE OF THEM HAVE SHOWN UP ON EBAY SINCE I'VE BEEN LOOKING.

I ALSO BOUGHT A TON OF BOARD GAMES ON EBAY TO PLAY WITH OUR GRANDKIDS AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS PHOTO OF OUR SPARE BEDROOM CLOSET:

IN CASE YOU'RE WONDERING HOW I AFFORDED ALL OF THIS - MY DAD DIED THE END OF AGUST 2009. MY BROTHER, SISTER AND I SOLD HIS HOUSE AND SPLIT THE PROCEEDS 3 WAYS. THE MONEY ALSO HELPED MY WIFE AND I MOVE BACK TO HER HOMETOWN WHERE ALL OF HER FAMILY STILL LIVES.

MARX & BMC PLAYSETS

You know how when we grow up many times we buy our kids the same toys we had as children. Well I never had any of my own kids. By the time my wife and I got married her 3 daughters from another marriage were grown. So I've had to skip a generation, and spoil my Grandkids rotten instead. We are going to move back to my wife's hometown sometime next year. When we do we'll be babysitting our oldest Grandson a lot. So I decided to buy a bunch of the Marx Playsets from the 1960's and 70's to have at our house for him to play with when he comes. Here's a photo of all of the sets I got recently off ebay:

DO YOU THINK I WENT OVERBOARD? NAHHHH....lol...

I also bought him a bunch of extra cowboys, indians, civil war soliders (both sides) and knights to add to the sets. I also got him several cap guns and hats to play with (fireman, policeman, cowboy, construction and army helmets). One thing missing from the photo that I haven't received yet is one of those Marx carry-all Playsets. It's the Cape Kennedy set.

Lest the Grand-Daughters feel left out. Here is a post about the Vinatge Toys we'll be sending to them this Christmas:

Nostalgic Goodies For The Grand-Daughters.

HERE'S THE TREE AT MY MIL'S IN ILLINOIS BEFORE THE KIDS TORE INTO THE GIFTS. THEY LOVED EVERY ONE OF THE RETRO TOYS:

UPDATE:
I just recently found a gentlemen who was selling multiple sets of the BMC Military Playsets that he had purchased for his son and himself to set up in diorama form. So now in addition to the above Marx Sets I also have the following BMC Sets now:

Gettysburg (3 sets)
Battle of Yorktown (2 sets)
The Alamo (2 sets)
Battle of San Juan Hill (2 sets)
Battle of Little Big Horn (2 sets)
D-Day Utah Beach (2 sets)
D-Day Invasion Of Normandy (2 Sets)

Are my Grandsons going to be lucky when they come to visit Grandpa & Grandma or what?
