BURL IVES "RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER" CARTOON SOUNDTRACK (DECCA RECORDS)

"Rudolph the Red–Nosed Reindeer is a long-running Christmas television special produced in stop motion animation by Rankin/Bass. It first aired December 6, 1964 on the NBC television network in the USA and was sponsored by General Electric. It is based on the song by Johnny Marks, and in turn taken from the 1939 poem of the same title written by Marks' brother-in-law, Robert L. May. Since 1972, the special has aired over CBS, who unveiled a high-definition, digitally remastered version in 2005.

In the story of Rudolph (voiced by Billie Mae Richards) numerous new characters are introduced for the first time as it was told by Romeo Muller. From the original song lyrics, the show features Santa (voiced by Stan Francis) and Mrs. Claus (who speaks with a vaguely Irish brogue) and the reindeer mentioned in the song. Of them, Donder is identified as Rudolph's father, and Comet is presented as the coach of the reindeer team. (Donder and Comet are voiced identically by Paul Kligman.)"

  1. Can't get stuff to download through that Mega Upload site. Do I have to register or something? Shouldn't the files just appear for me to play?

  2. No you don't need an account to download files. The download is a Zip File so no, individual files won't open unless I upload them that way. Even then they would be files that had to be downloaded.

I only host my files with download sites now because I don't trust host servers any longer after the last one deleted every single music file I had hosted with them. It took me almost 5 months to get my blog back up and running thanks to them. Sorry.

  3. Yeah, I dunno, I just can't find what I'm supposed to click on for it to play.

  4. To the right of the MEGAUPLOAD Logo with the arrow running under it and sweeping upwards at the right end. There should be a rectangular box that says "Click here to download".

  5. ....but Dave, that's only after you type in a three-letter code and then click the download button, and even then Megaupload has a 45 second countdown (what they call a download ticket) to wait before you can actually get the final download button to click on.

This is cool....I have this CD but am downloading it for the radio interviews, which I thought were great to have. Where did you find them??

  6. Something I forgot to mention....the tracks listed as the Decca Records Orchestra are in fact (most people don't realize this) the background/instrumental score from the special, from the non-musical scenes in the film. Listen carefully next time you watch this and you'll recognize the tracks.

  7. Hey. That's better than a 9 hour wait isn't it? Geesh.

The interviews came with a CD-R I bought off from ebay about a year ago. Jusdt now getting around to doing anything with it.

  8. That depends :-)....I just tried it again (already got it, though), and Megaupload is telling me I have to wait three hours before downloading anything else. :-(

I only meant that Megaupload (and a couple of others like RapidShite) use this code entry thing probably as a means of preventing an overload on their servers.

  9. Oh. I've never used megaUpload without a Premium Account so I thought it had the same Download Link no matter what. I know what you mean though. RapidShare has the code entry and 45 second delay also. I know how their download looks for the free users, but I'm not sure how MegaUpload looks with its free downloads.

  10. Wow! What a treat! I remember buying this CD ten years ago for only 5.99, and thought what a deal. I don't understand why they didn't charge more. Johnny Marks is an amazing songwriter. Being a kid in the 60s makes this music very special. And thanks for posting the extras. Truly classic.

  11. Great information on this website. One correction to note though: You have 'Jingle, Jingle, Jingle' credited as being sung by The Videocraft Chorus when in fact it is sung by Stan Francis (Santa Claus).

  12. Thanks. That info either came off from the recroding I got these off from or amazon. Don't recall which one.
