SOME CHRISTMAS RE-POSTS

NOW THAT IT IS GETTING CLOSE TO CHRISTMAS I THOUGHT I WOULD RE-SHARE THESE VARIOUS RECORDINGS THAT I SHARED EARLIER IN THE YEAR:

Pebbles And Bamm Bamm Singing Songs Of Christmas Zip File

The Grinch has successfully displaced Ebeneezer Scrooge as the spirit of anti-Christmas for today's audience. And there are similarities. Just as Tiny Tim was a strong factor in Ebeneezer's redemption, the children are a strong factor in the Grinch's redemption.

It's a pleasure to be able to hear the great Boris Karloff narration, along with the songs, and then afterwards to again hear the songs reprised.

Of course, this is a short CD, just barely 30 minutes in length. One must realize that while the program was supposed to be a half hour long, nearly a third of the time was used for toy advertisements. The irony of it all, a beautiful story telling us that the joy of Christmas is in the spirit of Christmas, not in the getting toys is aired for the purpose of selling overpriced and non-imaginative toys.

The Tracks Are:
1. How The Grinch Stole Christmas (The Story)(21:36)
2. Welcome Christmas(1:41)
3. Trim Up The Tree(2:56)
4. You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch(2:56) Sung by Thurl Ravenscroft (aka Tony The Tiger)
5. Welcome Christmas (Reprise)(3:35)

I just thought I would share the link here to the web page I made for this LP rip. Here's the link:
A Spike Jones Christmas

It is actually a pretty good collection of Christmas Songs picked out by Spike's Kids. With that Spike Jones typical zanyness thrown in here and there.

This is a Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes OTR Show called "The Night Before Christmas".

FINALLY THIS IS A NARRATION BY BASIL RATHBONE READING "TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISMTAS":

How The Grinch Stole Christmas Soundtrack - Boris Karloff 320kbps

Like thousands of other kids my age in 1967 I had the single to Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron. I had never heard this LP from the Royal Guardsmen until I acquired this one last year off ebay.
Side 1 of the LP is a drama involving all three of the Snoopy record singles. Side 2 is a mixture of love songs, airplane songs and Christmas songs. This copy was a bit choppy in a few spots, but I've tried to edit the skips out as best I could. I hope you enjoy it.

What great records! I have the chipmunks one. I think I picked it up at an antique store a couple of years ago.

Dejz vu....did I just see the Grinch post twice here? :-)

Actually, this recording (for which Boris won a Grammy Award) represents practically the entire soundtrack of the special which....in fact...without the commercials (as seen on DVD for example) runs a total of 26 minutes. Not quite the two-thirds you think it runs, but for years the network actually cut parts of it out to make room for more commercials. Nowadays when you see it on Cartoon Network, Family Channel, etc., they either show it in a slightly longer time slot so nothing has to be cut to make way for commercialism (something the Grinch would probably enjoy), or I've also seen it "time compressed", which basically means it has been shown at a slightly speeded-up frame rate which makes it play a bit faster than it should, again making room for more commercialism.

Oh man,I just love that Grinch story with Boris Karloff narrating. I was looking for this recording and I just want to say thank you so much for sharing! The animated special has long been one of my favorites. Thanks again for thinking about all of us "kids" out there who just adore this.
