Marx Service Stations And Ft. Apache

In my never ending effort to replace my childhood toys here are the latest ebay finds:

THIS SET IS THE EXACT SET THAT I RECEIVED FOR CHIRSTMAS IN 1963 AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE FAMILY SLIDE SCAN FROM THAT CHRISTMAS DAY:

I THINK MY SISTER GOT RIPPED OFF THAT YEAR...LOL. ALL SHE GOT WAS THE CLOTHES SHE IS WEARING AND THAT SNOW CONE MAKER. MY BROTHER AND I GOT THE CLOTHES WE'RE WEARING (MY ONCE FAVORITE DANIEL BOONE PJ'S), THE RACE CAR SET TOGETHER, I GOT FT. APACHE AND HE GOT BATTLEGROUND PLAYSETS. I ALSO RECEIVED THE UNCLE WIGGILY GAME YOU CAN SEE UNDER MY BROTHER'S PUZZLE ON THE COUCH. I'VE TRIED TO REPLACE THAT AURORA RACE CAR SET IN THE FAMILY SLIDE, BUT NONE OF THEM HAVE SHOWN UP ON EBAY SINCE I'VE BEEN LOOKING.

I ALSO BOUGHT A TON OF BOARD GAMES ON EBAY TO PLAY WITH OUR GRANDKIDS AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS PHOTO OF OUR SPARE BEDROOM CLOSET:

IN CASE YOU'RE WONDERING HOW I AFFORDED ALL OF THIS - MY DAD DIED THE END OF AGUST 2009. MY BROTHER, SISTER AND I SOLD HIS HOUSE AND SPLIT THE PROCEEDS 3 WAYS. THE MONEY ALSO HELPED MY WIFE AND I MOVE BACK TO HER HOMETOWN WHERE ALL OF HER FAMILY STILL LIVES.

WOW! I am so much into vintage toys and toys that were around when I was a kid. I also love board games. I don't know how exactly you acquired that many board games at one time but wow! I had a bunch of the old GI Joe dolls from the sixties and had some of the playsets but about 7 years ago, I lost all of it when I had to move and did not have enough room in the car to take it with me. I also had a lot of the Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman dolls and playsets as well. And my most prized possession out of all of the stuff that was left behind was a "Big trak" that was still in the box and never opened when I got it off of Ebay. I enjoyed all of your past posts and it is a rotten shame that some people can ruin it for everyone. God bless. Oh yeah, I registered with your yuku forum! I do have the Get Smart Soundtrack in mp3. I had originally gotten it off of you. Let me know if you still need it.

Oh that sucks that you had to give up your stuff. I am currently selling a lot of my board games also for the same reason of space constraints. we had hoped to get a place with some kind of garage where I could display all of my stuff, but there wasn't anything in our price range at the time we had to move. I currently have a lot sale of over 150 of my games on ebay right now HERE. Unfortunately it is Local Pickup as the shipping would be horrendous on 150+ games. I've had a lot of lookers so far, but no takers. I'm also selling some of my duplicate BMC Playsets. I have a couple on ebay now you can see in my list of things for sale HERE.

My Dad died in August of 2009. Us 3 siblings sold his house and split the money from the sale 3 ways. So when I got my check last May I went on a board game buying spree on ebay. As I say I thought I'd have a garage to display them in. So now I'm trying to sell the bulk of the games for about 1/3 what I paid for them. Live and learn huh?

My most valued item that I was able to get off ebay was a never oepned Marx Cape Canaveral Playset. I think it is a recast though but still rare to find still sealed even after 20 years.

I also found an extremely rare board gamne called "Ferry Command" from the 1940's. It's the exact same type of game that my Dad had as a teenager. It was kept at his parent's house. My Brother and I always played it when we'd go and stay there for holidays and summers.

It's only shown up on ebay about 5 times in the last 10 years so one board game expert told me. I found mine from a member at the BoardGameGeeks.com site.

BTW - I finally did get a copy of the Get Smart recording. Thanks anyway. as far as YUKU Forum you can Message kidsongs who is now the administrator of that forum. He can give you access to the music sharing sections if he hasn't already. Thanks for writing!

I had Fort Apache when i was a kid in the 70s! It belonged to my great uncle. My great grandparents built a house in the 50s and kept my great uncle's childhood room the same as it had been when he left home for the Air Force. My great grandmother was a packrat and spent her time rotating hidden treasures from one hiding place to the next. Everytime I or my cousins went over there was 'new' stuff to find! She had Life magazines going back to 1939 stacked in cabinets along a long hallway. Best of all her two boys had a say in great-granddad's blueprints for the house! He created a secret hiding place/clubhouse just behind the flu of the fireplace! You had to remove a hidden panel from the inside of a built-in firewood storage box and crawl through it to get there. The day my cousin and I found this place is among my favorite childhood memories!

Those are beautiful. You've inspired me to drag out my Hot Wheels "Tune-Up Tower".

Dwayne - Sadly my Dad died back in August of 2009. The 1/3 share that I got from selling his house paid for the board games, and our move to my wife's hometown.

Also sadly none of my Grandkids are all that interested in the games. Although they do love playing with my toy guns, MARX tin gas station, and my Structo toys.

I've reworked my ebay auction so that all of the games are $7.00 each. That way I can also offer shipping. So far I've sold about 50 games out of the 140 or so that I had in this photo.

My new auction listing is HERE.

Izbot - I always wanted a house with a secret room and crawl spaces. My Dad's parents had a small attic at their house, and that's the first place we would run to to get out all of the toys and games that they kept up there for us.

Good times for sure!
