How stupid is that? Did they tell you to take everything down, or else? If they aren't going to make it available, then what's the big deal? This is the craziest thing. I can't buy it in a store...I can't find it anywhere but here, so what's it hurting? I will keep checking this blog just in case something comes up and you're able to share again. What a huge downer. Thanks for all of your hard work.

At this moment it is my file hosting service that is blocking my files. However they don't normally take an action like this without some brown nosing, music industry lover contacting them first.

Dave

There's gotta be another file hosting service for you to use. There are so many others out there not having any problems. I'm sure you'll be back soon.

Dave said...

Oh there's lots. It was just a question as to whether I could recover the nearly 8 GBs worth of music files i had stored with them. I have since found out that I can. So once I get them all back on my PC I will have to start, once again, all over from scratch editing every single one of my posts with the new file urls once I have them. I have found one good file service recommended by Greg that I will probably start using.

Is this "Toe Of Frog" thing for real, or just a joke to strike back at the deletion nazis? Just wondering.....

swarlock said...

Oh man. That sucks royally.

I'm tired of the record industry butting in where they DON"T belong.

Good luck finding another server, my friend. I've saved some of what's on here in case you need it again.

Dave said...

Thanks. I think I may have found another server. It's just the point of having to upload all the files once again. This will be the 3rd time now.
Dave

Dave said...

@Greg,

NO. It's for real. I actually came up with it to strike back at ebay for deleting my account for supposedly being in the bottom 1% of seller satisfaction. Even though after 1200 sales I had a 99.6% rating. I have a friend who's company is called EyeONewt. So I called mine Toe Of Frog. LOL.

Next will be two people who are Wool of Bat, and Tongue of Dog. :-)

Later on will be Adder's Fork, and Blind Worm's Sting....Lizard's Leg, and Owlet's Wing.

LOL...

I just used ShareBee and reposted the link for Wizard Of Oz. 1 down about 150 to go...ugh.

dave

Hjalmar Poelzig said...

Yep, I checked it out and saw you had the revised link.

Mike said...

Great news, Dave! Sorry you have all of this work ahead of you...again. How bogus. I know it takes time so I'll be checking back for some of my favorites. Thanks again for all of your work!

i use this service called
onlinestoragesolution.com
it's about $5 a month for 10 gigs

The problem with any server host is that they all have the same Terms Of Service about storing copyrighted music. Eventually someone is going to get to them with some kind of threats of a lawsuit, and the same thing will happen. I thought I was good with DreamHost because I had my stuff hosted there for 15 months. NOT. So I'm going to save all my stuff on disc, and just share it via ShareBee.com. They have a good service, and I may have to renew links now and then, but it will be better than ahving to do my whole music library like I'm going to have to do now. Like has been mentioned 99% of this stuff is long gone from being able to be purchased. if the record comapnies would get off their collective arses and re-release this music, we music sharity blogs wouldn't have a reason to be here.

Oh, you managed to recover all your saved files? That's good. I read the Oz post and wanted to cry for you because I'd read you no longer had the files to reupload.

Joey said...

Here's the Judy Garland stuff I promised you. More to come. I'll be keeping these links alive, so when you're able to download, they should be fine.

The Wizard of Oz (1989 CBS CD release - basically the album you uploaded, but longer and with the Jittetbug outtake)

128 KBPS mono MP3, which = 256 KBPS stereo MP3, but half the filesize, since the CD's in mono anyway - http://www.anonym.to/?http://sharebee.com/0bea98ed

The Songs And Story Of The Wizard of Oz (1998 Rhino release. Same basic concept, but this time expanded even further, and in stereo - some simulated where multi-track recordings were unavailable, some true where they were)

128 KBPS MP3 - http://www.anonym.to/?http://sharebee.com/4b984911

Judy Garland - Alone + sessions outtake (1957) and Judy In Love (1958)

Both these albums are available on one CD, however these are done as separate albums just for organizational purposes. But they were ripped from the remastered CD issue.

256 KBPS MP3
Alone - http://www.anonym.to/?http://sharebee.com/16e621a6
Judy In Love - http://www.anonym.to/?http://sharebee.com/8cc21023

A Star Is Born (2004 Expanded Reissue) - CD is made from a mix of stereo and mono elements. Excellent sound quality, with lots of score and all the songs. Definitely an upgrade from the 1988 CD issue.

256 KBPS MP3
Part 1 - http://www.anonym.to/?http://sharebee.com/9d195b07
Part 2 - http://www.anonym.to/?http://sharebee.com/8dcaa4b4

Classic Judy Garland: The Capitol Years 1955-1965 (2-CD compilation)

VERY good set with excellent sound quality. Contains a mix of easily available recordings, rarities, outtakes, live and studio stuff.

224 KBPS MP3
Disc 1, Part 1 - http://www.anonym.to/?http://sharebee.com/fbba9084
Disc 1, Part 2 - http://www.anonym.to/?http://sharebee.com/0728122e
Disc 2, Part 1 - http://www.anonym.to/?http://sharebee.com/55ef37de
Disc 2, Part 2 - http://www.anonym.to/?http://sharebee.com/cb4db378

I hope you enjoy these. I've gotten a LOT more stuff from a friend who's uploading stuff for me lately, so more links will come when I can get around to uploading them.

Dave said...

@joey,

Thanks. I hope those links are good for quite a while becaus eit is going to be quite a while before I can even think about trying to save any NEW music.
Dave

Hjalmar Poelzig said...

I think I have that same 1989 OZ cd also, but the problem with the Jitterbug outtake is that it's only a partial portion of Jitterbug.....for whatever reason, they omitted the slower introduction with the actors sing-talking about what's going on before the beat begins and Judy starts singing. Really strange they didn't include the entire song.

Joey said...

Yeah, I don't understand why the intro isn't included either. It can't be time constraints, since the CD isn't totally filled up. But hey, it was a nice surprise when my aunt presented me with my cassette copy those many years ago. It was a nice way for me to experience the movie until I managed to get a VHS of it a few years later.

Joey said...

Hey Dave! Mind linking to my new Judy Garland blog on your two blogs? I've already gotten them linked. ^_^

I'm so sorry to hear about the problem with your file host!! It stunned me when I read about it.

As you said, if only the record companies would re-release this music so we could obtain it through the 'normal' channels. Thank you again for all of your hard work!!! And I'll keep checking back for updates .

Keep going Dave...you're kickin' ass!

I'm working on it. I'm going down through my files Alphabetically. I'm about midway through the D's now on both blogs. It just so happens most of the files so far have been for the Mostly Ghostly Blog. I'll git 'er done eventually.

Any chance of getting "The New Adventures of Alice In Wonderland or What's A Nice Kid Like You Doing In A Place Like This?" online again anytime soon? Or is there any way of getting a copy? Desperately searching for years for a copy and I was ecstatic to see you had it on your site but of course, the page will not display. Thanks!

I have all of my Hanna barbera stuff saved on CD so I've been saving it for last. I am not sure when I will begin putting the HBR stuff back up. I think I'm going to buy an External Hard Drive because this saving everything to new servers, and burning stuff to disks is just taking waaaaay too long.
Dave

Anim8Ed Stuff said...

Thank you so much, not only for the possibility of a future presentation of the New Alice soundtrack, but for what you have presented right now. A great resource, and you are doing an incredible job sharing rarities to many fans.

Dave said...

Since WFMU featured a bunch of my Hanna Barbera LPs in one of their latest articles HERE, I've decided to concentrate on re-sharing all of them next before getting back to my alphabetical re-shares. So far I have re-shared "Atom Ant", "Flintstones Time Machine". "Flintstones Mary Poppins Music", and The New Alice In Wonderland LP.

Anim8Ed Stuff said...

Finally, I have had the chance to hear the New Alice score! Thank you so very very much!!!

Joey said...

I hope this means an upload of the Charlotte's Web soundtrack soon. ^_^ I have a vinyl rip, but it's not too hot. There's a big skip in one of the songs.

Dave said...

Well. I'll be doing the Chipmunks first, and then I can do Charlotte's web.

Hey.
Some of the Megaupload links aren't working. And i'm not sure why.I keep getting a "this file is temporarily unavailable" message on The Reluctant Dragon and also on the SuperSnooper lps,as well as a few more in that same area.
I really loved those when I was a kid.
Could you please check those out?

Unknown said...

And oh yeah...
I fogot to say thanks.
So--Thank You Very Much!!!
You are helping me to relive my childhood.
I appreciate all your hard work.

And if you have any trouble with Megaupload you can always try Rapidshare or Mediafire.

Dave said...

Not sure. Either they're having some server problems or they're getting ready to dump the files for some reason. I hope it's the server problem. Keep checking back.
Dave

Dave said...

You're welcome. Unfortunately there are money grubbing factions out there that don't like me helping you relive your childhood.

I prefer Sharebee.com because they give downloaders 4 options of where to download. Unfortunately they don't have Premium accounts, and it is just way too slow uploading 1 file at a time.

Huckleberry Hound tells the stories of Uncle Remus and the Jetsons First Family on the Moon have expired due to inactivity. C'mon people! This is classic stuff!!! Show support for this wonderful website by spreading the word to your friends! (Hopefully they'll get re-upped) I'm vey grateful to Dave for making my long commute in traffic so much more fun.
Also Dave, the Pixie and Dixie tell Cinderella link to forbiddencryptsmusic shows file not found.
Many thanks!!!

Dave said...

Yeah I lost that Cinderella file somehow, and I'm going to have to up it to my PC all over again. I'll have to look inot the other files you mentioned. I may have to put themon my paid Megaupload account where they won't ever expire. I know some people don't like them, but I can't be re-posting this stuff for inactivity all the time. I've new things I'd like to do too. Thanks again for listening.
Dave

Dave said...

Ok. I have new links for the Jetsons On The Moon, and Huck Hound Uncle remus. Still working on Cinderella though.
Dave

qwijibo said...

Hi Dave,

How nice of you to repost the Jetsons and Huck!!! When i was a kid and we moved all our stuff got stolen (short version). Imagine being 9 and in an empty hosue and the F.B.I. knocks on the door and tells your parents you have nothing! Well, needless to say I really treasure your efforts as they help me reclaim some parts of my childhood that i thought were gone forever. YOU ROCK!

Dave said...

qwijibo.
Whoa! That would suck. What happened to your things if I may ask? I had some friends that went on vacation for 10 days, and when they returned someone had stripped their entire house right down to the plywood flooring.

dave

qwijibo said...

Hi Dave,

Well, what happened to our stuff was when we moved it was a long distance and the driver left the van in a parking lot while he took a few days to visit his girlfriend. Since it was unatteded thieves saw the opportunity to take our stuff and cleaned it out. Then what wasn't stolen (pretty much just photo albums)was left out and covered by snow and it got run over by a snow plow!
It's almost funny the way that last part added insult to injury. Not sure if it was the thieves or the snow plow that did it in, but we lost a entire run of E.C. titles that my Dad had saved from when he was a kid. War, horror, Sci fi, Mad ALL of them (Excuse me while I wipe a tear away !!)

Dave said...

Oh man that sucks. I'm hoping you're going to say the frickin' moving company reimbursed you? What an assnine thing of that driver to do.
Dave

qwijibo said...

Hey Dave,

Well, I was a kid so there's not a lot I really know first hand about the reimbursement. I know they forged my Dad's signature on documents and it went to court or something like court. We did get some amount of money, who knows how much, but who'd really trade EVERYTHING they own for a payout? Although, I do know Mom welcomed the chance to get new furniture. HAHA.
I think your friend's story is even worse about the vacation surprise! Life is much safer when visiting Children's Records and More on the web!

Hello Dave,

While I really have enjoyed your blogs in the past, I must bid them a fond farewell for as long as you use Megaupload. As a blind person, and for our screenreaders to work, we are unable to get past the image verification process to download. Since there is not any audio option to listen to the characters, we are effectively shut off. If you do find a way, or would consider another service that doesn't require vision to use, I know I'd be back. This is to say thanks for the shares in the past.

Dave said...

Sorry for the change, but I really saw no other way to get these files reshared without being here until next year still trying to get them re-posted somewhere. There are tons of other server hosts, but I can't take a chance to try them and then six months down the road have the same thing happen to my files and I have to start all over. Again I am sorry. If yu or nayone else reading nknows of an uploading service, that has the reader function AND a multiple file uploader then I'd be glad to use them. Unfortunately megaUpload was the only service i could find with such large file storage capacity, and a multiple file uploader.
Dave

Dave said...

kwork,
Is Rapdishare the same way? Do you know an upload service that IS able to be read by your reader?
Dave

Anonymous said...

Hello Dave,

RapidShare is indeed the same way, unfortunately. To get past it, we are forced to pay for a premium account. I know that you're just trying to do the best you can under the circumstances with your host and stuff. Thanks for at least writing back.

Dave said...

How about Sharebee? I just heard from them that they are working on upgrading their site with beta, and will have a multiple file uploader.
