"The New Alice In Wonderland" LP

Ok here is the LP that was actually the one being requested. This is basically the LP version of the soundtrack from the cartoon of the same name. It just has a few added narrations that weren't in the cartoon itself, and many scenes from the cartoon are not heard on the LP. The voices on this include Bill Dana (aka Jose Jimenez), Janet Waldo, Don Messick, Daws Butler, Mel Blanc, "Scatman" Crothers, Alan Melvin, Henry Corden, and Doris Drew as the singing voice of Alice. As is a common mistake Sammy Davis, Jr. is not in this cast. Many mistake "Scatman" Crothers singing voice for his on "What's a Nice Kid Like You Doing In A Place Like This?" Below is the Index page.

This is definitely NOT the entire soundtrack of the cartoon 'What's a Nice Girl Like You Doing in a Place Like This'! I recorded that as a child and have it burned into my memory...

This is the LP version, in which some of the voice talent has been replaced for legal reasons. Sammy Davis did the Cheshire Cat for the TV version, and was replaced here by the wonderful Scatman Crothers.

The role of the Mad Hatter was originally voiced by Hedda Hopper, tho the script is identical to what she recorded.

The Queen was originally one of the Gabors (Zsa Zsa?) but has been replaced here with a sound alike.

You will hear the original White Rabbit, Fred Flinstone & Barney Rubble as the Caterpillar and Bill Dana as the White K-night (aka Jose Jimenez)!

Many happy memories... But Sammy was WAY better.

I agree it isn't the soundtrack word for word from the cartoon simply because, as Wonderland Records listeners can tell you, that can at times be boring listening to nothing but 2 minutes of sound effects. It IS the entire rip of the HBR LP soundtrack release of their cartoon "The New Alice In Wonderland, Or...".

Anyway I changed my post to remove the word entire, and explained my self what I hope is more clearly. Yes audio portions are missing from this LP. I've seen this cartoon recently on Boomerang. I'm sure the LP soundtrack was shortened because, in kiddie record length, it would have had to have been a double LP to fit it all with the added narrations as well.

My point wasn't that this is incomplete... it's not.

I only wished to point out the wonderfully bizarre casting of the original.

Thanks!

Same with some of the HB Cartoon LPs. Like Top Cat Robin Hood. I don't think any of the original Top Cat voice actors were used on that one.

Dave - Two things ... Might you please re-upload this release? I've downloaded it several times and Stuffit Expander keeps telling me the archive is damaged (since I've not had this problem with any of your other uploads, I suspect this may be true.) If you find time to do that, many thanks in advance.

Second: Ron's correct. This is not a soundtrack recording. It's an audio adaptation specifically created for records -- the script was adapted by Charles Shows, who worked a lot for HB -- in which *everything* was performed anew. Stuff that may sound identical does so because in those instances the actors are the same, and giving nearly exact repeat performances (and why wouldn't they?). Ron's tally of the voice substitutes is also correct, but he misses one: On the LP, Don Messick is the White Rabbit. In the TV show it was Howard Morris.

I wish someone did repair this too.

You don't need to comment every time you find a dead link. I know there are a LOT of dead links. I have not yet decided if I will re-new them or not as I am getting pretty tired of having to do so thanks to some Trolls who have too much free time on their hands with nothing better to do, but go around tattle-tailing on music sharing sites. Even though about 90% of the LP shares here are Public Domain now.

I'm sorry if I came off a little negative there, just that I was thinking about it right now and thought I could get to listen to it anyway. Thanks though for the reply.

It's not that the link is dead. The link works fine. The file's corrupted and while it says it has 57.9 MB of content, my unzip programme says there are no files in it to extract. Ah, well.
